Our story

The name 360° Pilates was inspired by the idea of circling all the way back to the origins of Pilates, and coming full circle by bringing the method into today with a modern understanding of movement, health and fitness training.

360° means looking at the work in its entirety—every exercise, every apparatus, every concept, and the method’s past, present, and future. We want to help people remember that the Pilates method was originally developed as a comprehensive system of movement training to improve health and wellbeing. We want to showcase that for every problem they encounter in their practice, a solution was likely already baked into the work.

Necessity meets invention

Benjamin Degenhardt, the founder of 360° Pilates, synthesized historical research on Joseph Pilates’ thought process and has been sharing his unique perspective with students and teachers around the world for over a decade.

He realized that most of the questions we have about Pilates today can be answered by looking back at what inspired the method in the first place. What was missing was a resource that can deliver this information in a timeless and open-source format.

And so he took to the film studio and set out to create the ultimate Pilates manual: a comprehensive visual exhibit of the original work. The result is the slickest experience in online Pilates education available today. Our production, in numbers:

Our mission

We are committed to the development of innovative resources to future-proof the Pilates method and raise the bar for a better understanding of what Pilates is and does. We are here to serve the life-long Pilates student, ranging from the home practitioner to the teacher of teachers.

Our goal is to provide a documentation of the Pilates method that is rooted in tradition yet timeless in its delivery, and contribute to safe-guarding the work for lasting impact.

We believe that Pilates is for EVERY body, regardless of gender, race, or socio-economic status. It was designed that way.

Past, present, future = full circle

We are equally curious about the origins of the Pilates method as we are about its relevance today. Perhaps most importantly, we operate from a true desire to make sure the integrity of the Pilates method stays relevant for centuries to come.

We are proud of our network of collaborators and members that spans across the entire planet. Our platform celebrates shared passion and collective knowledge by highlighting our diverse community in our in-house social network and a variety of events to bring everyone together.

It takes a village

360° Pilates brought together the most passionate and skilled professionals we could find to bring our vision to life; we simply couldn’t have done it without them.
